The day began with quiet anticipation in Gawad Kalinga Baseco, as beneficiaries patiently queued for the day’s activities. Each individual’s identity was carefully verified to ensure that everyone received proper attention and care. While waiting for their turn, beneficiaries were served hot meals and drinking water, creating a welcoming and dignified environment from the very start.
On December 8, 2025, Upsilon Sigma Phi, in partnership with The Feathers Project, conducted Kusina at Kalinga under the banner of #UpsilonCares—an initiative that brought together community nourishment and essential healthcare in one of Manila’s most vulnerable urban settlements.
The program featured free medical consultations led by volunteer physicians, who provided basic check-ups, vital signs monitoring, glucose screening, and health guidance. Alongside medical care, freshly prepared lugaw meals were served to 37 beneficiaries, offering warmth, nourishment, and comfort. To further support the community’s immediate needs, essential medicines were also distributed.
The heart of the initiative lay in the hands of the Upsilon brothers and their partners on the ground, who led the organizing, serving, and day-to-day coordination of the program. Their dedication ensured that each beneficiary was attended to with care, respect, and compassion.
This December, El Felipe was grateful to support this meaningful initiative alongside The Feathers Project. While our role was a supporting one, we believe that service goes beyond corporate donations. It means showing up, helping in small yet practical ways—whether through crowd support, logistics, or simply being present where needed most. Because when it comes to serving communities that matter, no role is too big or too small.
